Now, let’s get to your “review”.

While we appreciate and respect people’s personal opinions, your review is actually the only #Ugly thing about #Beautiful. It reads like a long-winded tweet by some jaded teenager who is as secure in their own skin as a bubble in a cyclone. The ongoing trend these days in the media is for people to use their professional (we use this term as loosely as you have shown to do) standing to put forward bias and personal opinions on a subject matter they clearly already have an issue with before they even begin to think of a not-at-all-original-heading for their written piece.

Although we couldn’t get through the entire review (mainly due to the stench of its prejudice), it is clear that you have followed Mariah’s career for quite some time. We understand that people change and with change, people’s opinions of that person can change as well. Noted. Respected. However, the rantview (let’s coin a phrase while we’re going at it) that you managed to spend too much time on for someone you clearly have no real interest in is neither unexpected or new. This flavour of “journalism” is a current trend because it’s easy. It’s effortless and requires no real journalism skills – the lack of which is clearly on display throughout your entire review.

However, we respect your opinion. And we understand that it fits completely with TheVine.com.au vibe. I mean a vine, is after all, a creeping plant that uses other well-established structures (like Mariah) to support itself. People have been using Mariah Carey in this way for years. The difference is Mariah will continue to maintain her longevity, her established career and her endless talent long after the effort you went to to disrespect her dissipates, as it always does, into nothing.

I remember that my first few Mariah Carey songs that I’ve heard growing up were “Hero”, “Through The Rain”, “It’s Like That” and “Obsessed”. The first two are the most important ones though, because the message that it had was so beautiful and I remember when I was in 3rd Grade, my sister and I would sing “Through The Rain” and I didn’t know it was MC then because I grew up listening to divas like Celine and Whitney so I couldn’t differentiate who was singing what.

I only came to really know Mariah around the end of last year to this year. I was basically on YouTube, watching a video on my favorite artist’s vocal range. Then, I saw on the recommended videos, Mariah Carey’s vocal range. I knew she was special because she had a 5-octave vocal range. But I never heard her voice before (Or so I thought because I never really knew Mariah Carey). So I listened and I was blown away because her voice is magical! I have never heard anyone sing beautifully as her. Especially her whistle register, it is such a vocal masterpiece. Truly an Angel.

So I started searching her more on YouTube and I gravitated to watching her big performances. I found out about “Emotions”, “We Belong Together”, “I Stay In Love” and “Bye Bye”. Usually, if I only like a few songs from an artist, I won’t download the album. But that time, I wanted to give her a shot, because not only was she a phenomenal performer, she has really great songs. I looked her up in Wikipedia and I saw her discography and I immediately started downloading them, from her debut “Mariah Carey” to “Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel”. The rest is history, because I can proudly say that I am a LAMB

I hope that one day, I’d see Mariah in person or at least get a follow-back from her on Twitter or a reply from a tweet I would send to her.
